WFP Lays Off Over 230 Staff in Yemen Amid Operational Review
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has terminated more than 230 employees from its Yemen operations, including 210 Yemeni nationals and 20 international staff, according to informed sources.
Sources within the humanitarian organization told Khabar Agency that affected employees are being notified in phases, with some having already received contract termination notices while others will be informed in the coming days.
The staff reductions come as WFP undergoes structural and budgetary reforms for its Yemen mission, where economic instability, environmental pressures and regional conflict continue to challenge humanitarian delivery in one of the world’s worst food security crises.
