Report: Iran-backed Houthis killed and injured 24,000 civilians in Yemen's Taiz since 2015

A report issued by the military leadership of Taiz Axis revealed a horrifying toll of violations by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen's Taiz province since the beginning of the war in 2015 until mid-2024.

The military report mentioned that the Houthis have caused the death and injury of more than 24,000 civilians through indiscriminate shelling, mines, and explosive devices.

According to statistics, the number of civilian casualties reached 4,146, including 891 children and 466 women. Additionally, 18,065 others were injured, including 2,176 children and 2,669 women.

The report pointed out that landmines and explosive devices planted by the Houthis in residential areas and roads resulted in the death of 781 civilians, including 38 children and 23 women, in addition to injuring 1308 others.

Regarding cases of kidnappings, disappearances, and forced displacement, the report highlighted that the Houthi militia committed 6,024 violations during the same period. These violations included the abduction of 504 civilians, 175 cases of forced disappearance, and 899 cases of arbitrary detention, in addition to committing violations that resulted in 102 deaths and disabilities.

The report highlighted the Houthi militia's committing of violations and attacks, which reached 108 attacks on civilians, pointing out that the militias forcibly displaced 4,269 families.

According to the report, the militia destroyed 617 public facilities and properties, including the bombing of 11 public facilities, destruction of 87 public facilities with total damage in 62 public facilities and 379 partial damages, as well as damages to 27 public vehicles. Additionally, they also stormed and looted 31 facilities.

The Houthis also destroyed 3,617 private facilities and properties, including detonating 169 private facilities, destroying 224 facilities, causing total damage to 353 private buildings and facilities and partial damage to 2,020 facilities and private buildings, and 623 private vehicles, in addition to raiding and looting 53 private buildings and facilities, according to the report.
