Iran Created This Chaos: Trump Vows to Hold Tehran Accountable for Every Houthi Missile Fired
US President Donald Trump warned on Monday that Iran would be held responsible and face “dire” consequences for any further attacks by Houthis after Washington launched a military campaign over the weekend in an effort to deter the group.
“Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon, from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN, and IRAN will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire!” Trump said on Truth Social.
“Let nobody be fooled! The hundreds of attacks being made by Houthi, the sinister mobsters and thugs based in Yemen, who are hated by the Yemeni people, all emanate from, and are created by, IRAN,” the US president added.
He accused Iran of dictating “every move, giving them the weapons, supplying them with money and highly sophisticated Military equipment, and even, so-called, ‘Intelligence.’”
Over the weekend, the US military began striking Houthi targets inside Yemen. On Sunday, the White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz said the strikes targeted and killed multiple Houthi leaders, adding that Iranian ships and assets aiding Houthis could be targets in the future.
US officials have previously said that Iranian spy ships and other assets have been placed in the Red Sea to provide the Houthis with intelligence and other information.
Later Monday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt added: “Our message to Iran is, you better take this president seriously. And I think the Houthis learned that the hard way this past weekend... There’s a new sheriff in town.”
