Three civilians lost their lives on Thursday, after a landmine planted by Houthi militias exploded in Hodeidah, western Yemen.
According to the Human Rights Office in Al-Durayhimi district, the explosion occurred in the Kilo 16 area, claiming the lives of two individuals from the village of Al-Hakamiya Al-Abbasi in the Al-Zaranik region, located in the northern part of Beit Al-Faqih district, and a third victim from Ibb Governorate.
The victims have been identified as Fawzi Khalil Hakmi, 37, and Fouad Ahmed Ali Qoba’a, 30, both of whom were beekeepers. They were traveling in a vehicle, searching for a suitable location to relocate beehives, when the landmine detonated at the "Kod Anaba" site en route to the "Al-Breit" area. They were accompanied by a guest named Abdulrahman from Ibb Governorate, though further details about him remain unclear at this time.
The incident highlights the ongoing danger posed by landmines planted by Houthi militias, which continue to threaten civilian lives. Over the past months, the militias have reportedly planted large quantities of landmines across the region, creating a persistent and deadly risk for residents in affected areas.
