Sweden to halt aid to Yemen by 2025

The Swedish government said it will halt providing humanitarian and development aid to Yemen by the year 2025, citing "increasing destructive actions" by the Houthi militia.

In a statement, it clarified that the Swedish aid agency "Sida" will end its activities in the northern parts of Yemen beginning next year, with aid operations in the southern provinces suspended by June 30, 2025.

The government attributed its decision to what it described as "increasing destructive actions" by the Houthi militia, including the kidnapping of UN staff, as well as attacks in the Red Sea that have hindered the delivery of aid to those in need.
