Saudi Arabia detects 224 Coronavirus cases, 489 recoveries

Saudi Arabia on Sunday recorded 224 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 355,258 cases in the country, according to the Ministry of Health.

The number of recoveries in the Kingdom rose by 489 to 343,371.

Additionally, 19 new deaths were reported Sunday, bringing the death toll to 5,780.

The capital, Riyadh, had 51 new cases, while Yanbu had 21, and Mecca had 19 new COVID-19 cases.

The number of active cases was 6,107, the health ministry said, 785 of which were critical cases.

On Friday, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Rabeeah, the supervisor general of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), said Saudi Arabia has supported global efforts to develop a coronavirus vaccine and will be “one of the first” to procure a future vaccine.
